Aga Wojtanowicz is a Polish visual artist whose work is deeply shaped by her experiences living and creating in different cultural landscapes. Now based in Barcelona, she has enriched her artistic practice through her roles as an educator, curator, and illustrator in the United Kingdom and Poland, blending diverse cultural perspectives into her work.
Aga’s artistic practice spans a broad range of media, including painting, drawing, illustration, and collage. Her paintings, rooted in abstract expressionism, are characterized by vivid colours, bold brushstrokes, rich textures, and delicate layers of transparency.
In her recent series, Aga delves into the rhythms and flows of daily life, closely connected to nature and her immediate surroundings. These works explore both physical and internal landscapes, driven by memories, emotions, routines, and femininity.
"I capture moments," she reflects. "Some linger, inspiring a series of works. At times, it becomes a compulsion, where I can't stop, endlessly exploring a single view, color, or mark. Other times, it’s a one-off event, with loose, spontaneous strokes mirroring a natural flow, where hand and brush follow instinct."
Aga gravitates toward abstraction, finding liberation in the absence of rules and restrictions. This freedom allows her intuition to guide each gesture, making every piece a unique expression of her inner world.
